Advanced Soft Tissue Techniques Masterclass

John Gibbons’ Advanced Soft Tissue Masterclass introduces you to advanced soft tissue techniques that can be used easily and safely in a sporting and non-sporting context.

 

On completion of the two-day course you will have a good understanding of the NEW Bodymaster release techniques (BMRT), soft tissue release (STR), muscle energy techniques (MET), strain counterstrain (SCS) and positional release (PR). 

 

On this course you will also learn advanced myofascial techniques in which we will focuss on the area of the lower lumbar spine, specific shoulder problems and neck pain as well as other areas of the body; these techniques once learnt can then be employed immediately into your reptertoire of soft tissue skills so that you can successfully treat more patients with a variety of musculo-skeletal problems.

 

You will be awarded a Certificate of achievement at the end of the course attaining 14 CPD points / hours.

Course Objectives:

  1. Different types of soft tissue techniques

  2. Differentiate BMRT from STR

  3. Strain counterstrain and Positional release techniques explained

  4. Muscle energy techniques (MET)

  5. Myofascial techniques

  6. Surface anatomy of the psoas, release of the psoas using myofascial technique, MET and positional release (PR)

  7. Surface anatomy – shoulder assessment and treatment using soft tissue techniques

  8. Treatment of lumbar spine erector spinae, decompression using the bodymaster release techniques (BMRT)

  9. Assessment and treatment of cervical spine

  10. Assessment and treatment of hip joint, piriformis and the sciatic nerve

  11. Treatment of specific injuries using BMRT, STR, SCS, MET and PR. Techniques concerning the Achilles tendinopathy; lateral epicondilitis, medial and lateral hamstrings, rectus femoris and peroneals

 

Pre-requisites:

The advanced nature of the course content requires you have a high standard of both theoretical and practical knowledge. The minimum level of your ability, therefore, is Level 3 Sport / Holistic Massage

 

Therapist with ITEC, VTCT, IIST, Premier or similar diploma qualification.

This course is perfect if you are an Osteopath, Chiropractor or a Physiotherapist as the techniques you are taught on the course will compliment your treatments in your clinic. Students studying any aspect of physical therapy are also welcome.

Spinal Manipulation and Mobilisation Techniques Masterclass

Safely learn how to use Grade 5 manipulations (commonly known as an HVT – High Velocity Thrust). During this course you will also learn specific osteopathic mobilisation techniques and muscle energy techniques for the pelvis, sacroiliac joint, lumbar and thoracic spine.

 

This course is perfect for you if you work with athletes.

On completion of the course you will be able to competently and safely manipulate and mobilise the joints of the pelvis, lumbar and thoracic spine.

 

You will be awarded a Certificate of attendance at the end of the course attaining 7 CPD points / hours.

Course Objectives:

  1. The role of the manipulative therapist & appropriate insurance

  2. Differentiate between Osteopathy, Chiropractic and Physiotherapy

  3. Motion testing and palpation

  4. Priciple of leverage and coupled motion

  5. Combining leverages

  6. Spinal Mechanics / fryettes law type 1 and type 11

  7. Contraindications and red flag pathologies

  8. Explanation of HVT, Grade 1-5 mobilisations

  9. Mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the thoracic spine

  10. Assessment, mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the lumbar spine

  11. Assessment, mobilisation, muscle energy techniques and manipulative techniques will be demonstrated to the pelvis and sacroiliac joint

 

Pre-requisites:

This is a very intense course using a high standard of practical skills; therefore you must be an experienced therapist to attend this course e.g. Osteopath, Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, Sports Therapist, or be a student of Osteopathy and / or Chiropractic with an excellent knowledge of Mobilisation / Manipulative techniques.

 

Sports therapists and Sports Massage therapists are also able to attend as long as they have the necessary experience.

Only very safe techniques will be taught.

 

Please note: Cervical Spine Manipulation will not be covered on this course even though the technique will be discussed.
